HOW TO PREVENT YELLOW / GREEN POOL WATER?
Yellow / Green pool water can be caused by a number of factors, including high levels of metals or organic material, algae growth, pollens or improper pH balance. Here are some steps you can take to avoid your water to turn yellow or green:
1.ONCE A WEEK:
Test the water chemistry levels via a proper kit (click here if you need one): balance it out with the proper chemicals:
1. To reduce the PH (ideal level 7.2 - 7.6), you can use muriatic acid (unbalanced, BE CAREFUL WEAR PROTECTION as it is fuming in a humid environment). See chart below for adjustments:
2. The most important one is checking the phosphate level on a regular basis (click here to get one). Make sure you keep it a 0 all the time! (For adjustment check this page)
Brush the entire pool
Skim the top
Vacuum the bottom
Empty the skimmer and pump basket
2.EVERY OTHER WEEK
Clean paper filterÂ
3. QUATERLY CLEANING
Sand filter backwashing
Salt system cell cleaning (mix 20% muriatic acid 80% water)
By following these steps, you should be able to clear up the yellow color in your pool water. Something also to be aware of is that salt system pool water will reduce the risk of yellow/green water by 50%.
I will recommend to go with Autopilot Salt System: For standard regular pool (up to 30 000 GAL, click here)
This system keep producing chlorine even if the salt level is not in range (2800 - 3400 PPM).
Other factor that can bring yellow mustard algae is the water temperature (warm water will favor algae's development) for that there is some heat pump reversible to temperature down your pool water:
